Lush Kilima Longboard
The Lush Kilima longboard is the F-16 fighter jet of the longboard world. This board looks stunning and is seriously fast. The Kilima has been upfated for 2007 and now comes in light-weight, strong Bamboo. It has also been lowered by way of ‘Drop-through’ mounted trucks which are super stable at speed. The Lush Avalanche wheels have proved time and again that they are high performance.
The Lush Kilima longboard is not just about speed, it fits the bill as a classic longboard too. Simply rolling down the street on it is an experience and the long wheelbase hides the fact that it turns and carves extremely well. The lowered ride height means that pushing and foot braking are more stable and comfortable, making it a good choice for long commutes or day long skate sessions this summer.
Why Bamboo?
Bamboo is becoming an alternative to Maple, as the wood of choice for making skateboards. It is stronger and lighter than maple and grows stupidly fast so it is much better for the environment. Just as we like it at S2AS!!
Why drop through?
A board built with trucks mounted through the deck as opposed to on the bottom of the deck sits about 2cm lower. This enables your to gain a lower centre of gravity, and means that the deck pivots around the centre of the truck pivot axis, which is much more stable. The trucks remain as turny as they would be, mounted underneath the board, but you can ride much faster without getting the speed wobbles. Riding this longboard is just incredible. If you've not tried drop through, you need to give it a go!! Some people don't like the look, but on a pintail where you don't stand above the trucks it's a winner every time. Watch out for more drop through boards over the next few years - this is the future of downhill riding!!! Watch this space!
